Current Projects:

  • LiSyM – Systems Biology to Systems Medicine of the Liver “Ein neuer Regulator des Leberstoffechsels” (BMBF funding)
  • Der Hedgehog Signalweg in der adulten Leber – Untersuchungen zur Einflussnahme auf den hepatischen Lipidstoffwechsel und mTOR/Insulin-Signalkaskade (DFG funding)

The overarching goals of this junior group, is to contribute to the identification of key processes leading to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and its progression to non-alcoholic steato-hepatitis (NASH). In this regard we would like to investigate the role of morphogenic pathways, like the Hh signalling and the Wnt/beta Catenin pathway as a zonation keeper of metabolism in the murine and human liver. Furthermore we investigate the mechanisms of how the liver is able to communicate with peripheral organs like the adipose tissue.
